The Sacrament Meeting Surprise
Ok, I was sitting on the stand with the choir this morning during Sacrament Meeting listening to a member of the Bishopric conduct the ward business of releasing and sustaining of members. Only one sister was released and then this same sister was called as the Visiting Teaching Coordinator. "Wait...isn't that my calling?" Nobody in the Bishopric called me in to let me know that I was being released...actually, I wasn't released. Maybe they will release me next week. It caught me off guard, but I'm ok with it. I've been doing it for a long time and I'm happy to let the new sister take the reigns for a while.

Happy Birthday/Valentines Day
Last Monday, on Valentines Day, Alan's staff held a special pot-luck lunch at the office to celebrate Alan's birthday, which was two days earlier. They had a very nice Mexican meal which everyone enjoyed. They asked me to bring the dessert. I usually make a cherry cheescake for Alan for his birthday (his favorite) but this time since it was Valentines Day, I decided to make a dark chocolate heart cake with the cherry cheescake filling on top. It was an experiment because I'd never done that before. Except for the fact that it was hard to keep the cherries on top, it turned out great and tasted delicious. I may actually do it again some day.

The Engagement
On Friday evening, Kyle gave our family some good news...that he is engaged to be married to a wonderful young woman named Emily Crandall from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Yes, after a 10 year drought we are finally going to be able to welcome another in-law into our family. She is very cute and talented. It's no wonder that Kyle fell in love with her. The rest of us have too. They plan to be married on either June 18th or June 25th somewhere in Utah (still undecided which temple). We are thrilled that about this and we are looking forward to seeing events unfold as the wedding day approaches. Congrats Kyle and Emily!
Here are some photos of the happy couple. This first picture was taken in December when Kyle brought Emily home to meet us.

Ethan's Baptism
I can't believe my grandson, Ethan Matthew Stott, is 8 years old! He has grown up so fast. Alan and I were able to attend his baptism on January 29th in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. It was a very nice baptism (except that I had to give a talk...but I survived it just fine). His Beesley Grandparents (who live here in Lancaster) were also able to attend. It was a quick trip, but well worth it. We loved being able to spend two days with Eric's family in their new house.
