Part of our trip was spent in Nashville, which is about 3.5 hrs. travel time from Memphis. I learned a few things during that drive - that Tennessee is a very green state and has lots of trees. Basically, this is the view we got while traveling across the state - all trees! Oh, and the road kill was opossums and armadillo. I saw a road sign that said "Bucksnort 1 mile". Bucksnort? Go figure. Must have been a deer hunter or a cowboy who established that place.

One of the first things we did in Nashville was visit the Parthenon in Centennial Park. This is a full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece and was built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition.
There is an art museum inside and one of the main attractions is Athena. She is huge!
We ate dinner at Chili's Restaurant and for dessert we ordered this chocolate cake topped with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate for all 6 of us to share.
It was delicious! Just ask Milo. Here is a photo of him with his mouth open like a little chick waiting for his next bite. So cute!

As I stated in an earlier post, I love to visit any temple I can so our party humored me again and allowed us to drop by the Nashville Temple on the way to the Cumberland Caverns a couple of hours outside of Nashville. As it turns out, it is very much like the Memphis Temple - maybe identical. Oh well, at least I can say I was there. Kyle came up to me while I was taking photos and said "I thought we left Memphis." So did I. Haha

The Cumberland Caverns were awesome. We debated whether to travel there or not because of the distance, but it was worth the trouble and the time. Alan claims that this was his favorite part of the whole trip.

The thing I wanted to do most in Nashville was to attend The Grand Old Opry. How can you go to Nashville and not attend a show?
Not a good picture, but shows the stage.

An awesome hotel close to The Grand Old Opry is the Gaylord Opryland Resort. It is beyond amazing. I took several photos there, but I found these online and they do a better job of showing just how amazing this place is.

I don't think we will ever feel rich enough to stay there, but it was sure fun walking around acting like we belonged - just like we have done many times in Las Vegas.
This concludes my posts on our trip to Tennessee. We really enjoyed being able to visit Kyle and Emily, see their home, see Kyle's school, and get a feel for their little part of the world. We are pleased with their little family and happy to see that it is growing. Can't wait to meet their baby daughter later this year.
