Aird's Mission Call

Last week, my sister Jane and her husband Ken opened their mission call. They had requested somewhere in the U.S., Canada, Europe, or Australia. Of all the places they could have been called to, they will be serving about 90 miles from me! They were called to serve in the California Riverside Mission. I am stoked!!! I'm probably more excited about it than they are. I think they are warming up to it a bit, though. God knows where he needs them to serve and I'm certain that they will be a great addition to the mission in that area. I know they will have fantastic experiences that will help their testimonies to grow and that they will be great ambassadors for Christ. I wish them luck!

Alan's Release

After serving 4 years as the Lancaster California Stake Clerk, Alan was released last Sunday. He has served as a clerk in the ward and stake many times. At one point, he served as the Stake finance clerk, the ward finance clerk, and the ward clerk all at the same time. I guess you could say he has a lot of experience being a clerk.

One thing Alan liked about being the Stake Clerk is that he was able to work closely with the Stake Presidency. The presidency meetings, he says, were inspirational and uplifting. He enjoyed working with President Crawley, President Silva, President Swindlehurst, and David Collins (the Executive Secretary). He is currently training Kay Roberts to take over as the new Stake Clerk.

I know Alan will miss attending the Stake Presidency meetings, but this release will give him extra time to concentrate on our calling to minister to the members of the Spanish Branch.

Pictured below Left to Right: Pres. Jonathan Silva (2nd Counselor), Terry Staydohar (member of the stake), Pres. Bryan Crawley (President), Pres. Rod Swindlehurst (1st Counselor). In a few months, our stake will probably get a new Stake President and new counselors. These three have done a tremendous job for our stake. I commend them on the direction they have taken the stake over the past 9 years.

Family Labor Day

We don't usually have anyone here to celebrate Labor Day with us, but we did this year!

Since Kyle's family hadn't met Kessler yet, they decided to drive over from Arizona for the long. Jared came as well. Of course, everyone loved Kessler and they all enjoyed holding him and spending time with him.

We all had a great time, eating, playing, and swimming together.

Kyle's pool doesn't have a diving board, so the kids enjoyed jumping off ours. Milo and Clara are both becoming good swimmers.

We let Clara open her birthday gift from us a little early. Her birthday isn't until September 24th, but we wanted to watch her open it. We gave her a remote-controlled unicorn, and she loved it! I can't believe she is going to be five years old. Her birthday is a tiny bit too late to start kindergarten this year, so she is in pre-school again.

We played "Three Buck Chuck" since Cheryl and Parker couldn't play it with us at the reunion in June. Parker & Kessler teamed up and they were the big winners!

Kessler is ready to go to church.
