Septuagenarian

It's hard to believe that Alan turned 70 years old a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I'm not far behind him in age. I will be there before you know it.

We had two celebrations for Alan this year. On his actual birthday (February 12), his four brothers and their wives came over to our home to spend the evening together celebrating ALL of their birthdays beginning with Alan's and ending with Galen's on March 15th. I find it interesting that all five boys have a birthday within 4.5 weeks of each other. We had a fun night of celebration.

To start it off, we ate dinner that we ordered from a local Mexican Restaurant called "Salsa Leedos", which is our favorite Mexican Restaurant around here.

The only real decorations were balloons, but it added a nice touch.

After we ate our meal, we gathered in the family room to give family updates, share pictures, and play a game. It was a very pleasant evening. The Stott boys plan to get together quarterly.

Our second birthday gathering was a local family get-together the day after Alan's birthday. Because of Covid, only Ryan, Eric, & Ella were able to attend. We had some dinner and then connected with everyone else via Zoom. As a surprise gift from everyone, Alan received a nice video of family members sharing their memories over the years with Alan. Cheryl was kind enough to gather and edit the video contributions. It was a big hit. Everyone did a great job and we all had a good laugh. I think it really helped to bring our family closer together even though we live somewhat spread out.

Alan doesn't really enjoy the limelight, and never has. He did, however, not only survive both evenings, but enjoyed them as well. You only turn 70 once, so we wanted to make his day very special. I think we accomplished that goal!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Alan!

Welcome to the Family, Little One!

On Sunday, January 16th, Cheryl and Parker welcomed a new little daughter into their family. Cheryl gave birth by c-section to Wesley Lois Stronk. She weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20" long.

Alan and I arrived in California a few days earlier on January 13th, so we could help  out with Kessler during this big event. Cheryl & Parker decided not to find out the sex of the baby ahead of time, just like they did with Kessler. We were thrilled to hear that it was a little girl. Most everyone, including me, felt like they were going to have a girl and we were right.

The happy couple meeting their daughter for the first time.

Getting weighed in.

Nice and cozy warm once again!

Wesley looks a lot like her mother did when she was born. Pictured here is Cheryl at the top and Wesley at the bottom. Cheryl weighed 9 lbs. 12 oz. at birth. Wesley was 8 lbs. 14 oz.

Wide awake and curious about her new world.

I couldn't get enough of holding baby Wesley while we were there. Nothing compares to holding an innocent baby who has come straight from heaven.

Sure do love her cute "photo shoot" pics.

Kessler took to her right away and loves being her big brother.

Welcome to the world, little Wesley. You were born to wonderful parents who love you and will take great care of you and Kessler.
