Last Monday, on Valentines Day, Alan's staff held a special pot-luck lunch at the office to celebrate Alan's birthday, which was two days earlier. They had a very nice Mexican meal which everyone enjoyed. They asked me to bring the dessert. I usually make a cherry cheescake for Alan for his birthday (his favorite) but this time since it was Valentines Day, I decided to make a dark chocolate heart cake with the cherry cheescake filling on top. It was an experiment because I'd never done that before. Except for the fact that it was hard to keep the cherries on top, it turned out great and tasted delicious. I may actually do it again some day.

Looks delicious! I know Alan hates celebrating his birthday publicly...did it go over well?
Jane, Alan didn't mind too much that the staff threw a pot luck luncheon for him. He just wouldn't let them sing happy birthday to him. He did really enjoy the food.
Looks yummy! I wouldn't even need a plate just a fork and away I'd go!
p.s. Happy Birthday Alan :)
