Stott Sibling Reunion

Galen and Jayne were in charge of the Stott Reunion this summer. It was held August 16-17.  The Stotts do one year of everyone invited and the next year they will have one for siblings and wives only. This reunion was the latter. Galen and Jayne did a wonderful job of putting fun activities together and it was nice to be able to spend quality time together and get reacquainted.

We started the reunion by going to Red Butte Gardens in Salt Lake City.  This is a place that neither Alan or I had been to before.  The landscaping is beautiful and we enjoyed being able to hike the trails and marvel at some of God's beautiful creations.

I had to take this of Susan next to the Black Eyed Susan's

This big "fake boulder" 'fell' on Alan. Doesn't he look like he is in distress?

This is a spot where they frequently hold wedding receptions.  I could see why a bride and groom would like to have a reception here. It was beautiful.

Group photo ops. Steve and Barbara Lynn were not able to
be at this particular activity.

After visiting these gardens, we gathered at Cafe Rio for a delicious lunch.
Later, after a much needed rest, we ate dinner at Cracker Barrell prior to attending the Hale Theater where we saw "Tarzan". We really enjoyed their production. It was very well done and very entertaining.

On Saturday morning, we started the day by visiting Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary where Alan's dad Edgar Keith and his brother Brian are buried.

Jayne couldn't join us at the Cemetery and Steve is taking this photo.

While there, we were asked to pick one word that described each of them. It was nice to be able to share memories of both. They are missed!

After this, we were able to go to a dollar movie theater to see "Ephraim's Rescue". This is an LDS made movie about Ephraim Hanks who helped as a rescuer of the Martin Handcart Company.  I was so pleased to be able to see this movie because I knew it wouldn't make it to the theaters in our area.

Another highlight of the day was to be able to attend a session together in the Jordan River Temple. Galen and Jayne were not able to attend with us, but the rest of us were there.  This was my first time to be able to see the brand new film associated with the endowment session.  It was powerful and very moving.  I loved it!  It is such a great feeling to be in the temple of God with other family members who believe the same things you believe and worship the same way you worship.  Families truly are forever and I am and will be forever grateful to be a member of the Stott family.

We ended the day by having diner at Archibald's Restaurant where we were able to have a private room all to ourselves.  Alan's mom, Pearl, was able to join us for that dinner.  She is the matriarch of the family and we love it when we can all gather around her and glean from her wisdom and life's experiences.  We are hoping that we can have many more years with her in our lives.

The evening was spent at Steven & Susan's house where Susan had made "Blueberry Delight" for dessert. It was delicious!  It was nice to sit in their comfortable home and spend a couple more hours all together (except for Jayne, who was not feeling well). Keith and Barbara will be going on a mission soon, so this will be our last gathering with everyone for a while.

This turned out to be a great reunion and I am so happy that we were able to attend it. Thank you Galen and Jayne for all the hard work and preparation that went into organizing it for the rest of us!
