The Sting

While drying off after my morning swim two days ago, I felt a sting on the inside of my right arm. I looked down and didn't see the bee (at least I think it was a bee), but the stinger was still in my arm. Fortunately, I was able to extract it. Boy, did it sting! It hurt constantly for about 3 hours and then periodically after that. If anything touched or rubbed the area, it would start stinging all over again.

Stupid bee. What did I ever do to you anyway?

When bees sting, they drive their stinger deep into the body of the victim, leaving the venom apitoxin in the sting area. No wonder it hurts so much!!!

Now, two days later, the sting has fortunately turned to an itch.
