We have lived in our new home for two weeks now. The time has passed quickly and slowly at the same time. How can that happen?
On move-in day, Alan and I were rushing to beat the moving trucks here. We spent the night at a hotel in Cedar City, got up early, then hit the road. We didn't know exactly what time the trucks would arrive. Thankfully, we arrived a couple of hours before they did.
Galen was at our house when we arrived. He called about 20 minutes earlier to let us know he was there. He had seen the yard, but we gave him the garage door code so he could get inside and take a look. While he was there, my friend Larraine and her husband Dennis showed up with a welcome gift. I LOVED her gift.
This is what the card said:
My gift of milk, honey, bread, and butter. How clever is that!
Although Dennis & Larraine left after giving Galen our gift, they came back about 1/2 hr. later so I got to thank them in person for the gift and give them a tour of the house. Thanks to Galen being at our house, the milk was safely put into the fridge before it could spoil.
Soon after that, Keith and Barbara showed up with some lunch for all of us to share. That was very nice of them to welcome us to our new home in that manner.
Finally, the trucks arrived and the big unload took place. Boxes galore! It took them about 5 hours to unload the trucks.
Boxes galore, but eventually this house will be in order.
My sister-in-law, Susan, came a couple of times to help organize my kitchen and game closet. My sisters, Janice and Gayle, also came out to help me with things, like hanging shower curtains and putting together these shoe racks.
Cheryl's mother-in-law, Karla Stronk, who lives in Sandy, came over to see the house and bring me a gift of some flowers, a spatula, hot pad, and a tea towel. I couldn't find a vase, so I had to put the tulips in a water bottle. Karla is such a thoughtful person. I really like her.
I am so grateful for all who have welcomed us and helped us get our house organized. What a blessing they are in our lives.
