Prior to going to Ladera Ranch to watch Cheryl's kids, we decided to spend some time alone as a mini-vacation at Hermosa Beach. Hermosa is our favorite beach. We have been there several times. Although the weather was quite cool and overcast, we still had a fun time walking the strand, walking the beach, frequenting the restaurants and eating way too much.
We usually stay at the Sea Sprite, but decided to stay at a hotel called "Beach House". We were delighted with our room, which had a great ocean view.
A Room with a view - and our own little balcony. We loved watching the beach volleyball players practice from that balcony. I love volleyball!
The room had a nice fireplace, which we used since it is so cool at the beach this time of year. We also heated ourselves up by sitting in the spa. I didn't get a picture of that.
Our room was long and narrow with the bathroom at the entrance, then the bed, then the sitting room and the balcony. It worked out well for us.
Alan is standing here at a surfing lifeguard statue/memorial at Hermosa Beach.
This is a view of the city of Hermosa taken from the pier. That's our hotel behind the rainbow lifeguard tower.
I had forgotten what being close to the beach does to my hair. Years ago, my hair would go very curly/wavy and frizz up. Now, it goes flat and frizzy. I struggled with it the whole time I was there. I was so grateful to go inland to Cheryl's house so my hair would return to somewhat of a "normal" state.
Who knows how many more times we will be able to make it back to Hermosa Beach in our lifetime - maybe never. We did, however, certainly enjoy our time there once again.
