New Temple Assignment

I have been an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles Temple for almost 3 1/2 years and I have loved every minute of it.  As I woke up early this morning (before 3 a.m.) to get ready to go to the temple, I was thinking how there aren't many things worth getting up this early for, but attending the temple and working as an ordinance worker is one of them.  Last February I was asked to be the Initiatory Assistant Coordinator (see my Feb. 4th post).  That assignment gave me a good perspective into how the first floor operates.  What I mean by first floor is the area covering the locker room, the initiatory area, the name issue area, and the restroom.  There is a sister assigned to be the first floor coordinator to make sure that these areas run smoothly and that supplies are well stocked.  She also conducts prayer meetings on occasion and assists the shift coordinator and initiatory coordinator as needed.  On our shift, that sister has been Sister Matweyew for the past 3 years.  However, I was recently asked by our temple Matron, Sister Huff, to be the new first floor coordinator since Sister Matweyew was moving up into the Coordinator spot and Sister Garns was being released from that assignment.  I was rather surprised by this assignment, but humbled as well.  It is a leadership position. Today was my first day as first floor coordinator and things went real well.  What kind of scares me is that if Sister Matweyew is ever absent from our shift, I will have to take her spot as coordinator.  I hope to get some training for that position in case I do need to step in at some point. In the meantime, I will learn my new duties and perform them to the best of my ability.

Temples make me happy!
