My sisters and I got together for a sister's retreat last weekend after a long hiatus, mostly due to the fact that Janice has been on a mission. Our meeting spot was at Brian Head in Utah. As it turns out, I was visiting my chiropractor - Dr. David Howard - and asked him if he knew anyone who had a condo in St. George that my sisters and I could rent for our sister's retreat. He offered us his condo for free at Brian Head so we took him up on the offer. Although the condo turned out to be a little smaller than we would have liked, we loved staying there and had a great bonding experience. We laughed, cried, talked, played games, watched movies, ate, and sang together for three days. It was like being in heaven.
We stayed at the Kristi Condos. We were on the 2nd floor. Luckily, the place was practically deserted, so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.
You would think that since we were there towards the end of May we would have had nice warm weather, but such was not the case. It snowed on our second day there. It was a good excuse to stay indoors and play together.
Before it snowed, we were able to go up the canyon to a place called Cedar Breaks. It is so beautiful. My eyes lit up when I saw this beautiful site. I felt like I was at a mini-grand canyon. I love Utah!
As I mentioned earlier, the condo was a bit smaller than we thought it was going to be, but we managed. Janice had to sleep on the top bunk of this bed which was very close to the ceiling. She couldn't even sit up straight. Good thing she isn't claustrophobic. She is the only one of the four of us who was thin enough to manage the ladder to get to the top bunk. Gayle slept in the bottom bunk, Jane slept in the nice queen bed in the master bedroom (because of her recent hip replacement surgery), and I slept on the futon in the family room because I brought a foam pad to help ease the pain I feel in my back and hips while sleeping. I can't say that any of us got tons of sleep, but we managed to carry on with all our activities.
We had to go to the general store to purchase a couple of staple items we needed (T.P. and hand soap) and we met Mr. Bear just sitting there waiting for us to get a photo with him.
One perk of staying at the condo is that we had the use of the rec. room which was right next door to the condo. We used this room to eat, play games, do our nails, and sing. I brought my guitar so we could have a sing-along. It was amazing! Even without rehearsing, we were able to sing harmonies. I have talented sisters. Of course we shed some tears when we sang "Silver Haired Daddy of Mine". Jan mentioned that she felt that Mom and Dad were there with us. I hope they were.
Funny story - our first night in the condo we ate wonderful lentil soup that Janice had made at home and brought up for us. When it came time to eat, we couldn't find any eating utensils anywhere. We searched high and low and couldn't find anything to use except some small measuring cups and measuring spoons. It was hilarious.
After dinner when we were cleaning up, Janice (I believe) moved a box full of kitchen supplies she had left on the kitchen counter. Low and behold, there was a caddy holding all kinds of eating utensils. I'm kind of glad we didn't find them until after dinner. If we had found them sooner, we wouldn't have laughed so much at dinner as we tried to eat soup with imposter utensils, and we wouldn't have that funny memory to recall in the future.
Oh how I love my sisters! We have so much fun together. I am so grateful that God blessed me with three of the best sisters in the world. I wonder if we were best friends in our pre-earth existence. I imagine we were.

We don't look our best here because we had a no hair, make-up, or shower day. Pretty fun not to have to worry about making ourselves beautiful for one day.

I love hearing that you have such a good relationship with your sisters and about the get-away. Sounds so pleasant! Sometimes Galen and I don't have any utensils to eat with either, but that's our fault. They're dirty and in the sink waiting... We'll have to start using our measuring cups and spoons until those run out and then we will use our mouths and fingers. Works for me :)
