Following The Prophet

During the Women's session of General Conference a couple of weeks ago, our prophet, President Nelson, encouraged the women to do a couple of things. One was to take a 10-day fast from social media and the other was to read the Book of Mormon before the end of the year.

Regarding the social media challenge, I am happy to say that I just completed my 10-day fast. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. There were a few times when I was tempted to sneak a peak - especially when I would receive notification that a family member had posted something, but I must say that I did a really good job staying away. Now that my fast is over, I'm not really tempted to spend much time on there anyway. I do find out some interesting things from some of my closest family and friends, but for the most part, it is a total waste of time.

About reading the Book of Mormon, I have accepted the challenge. At the time the challenge was given, I was in 3rd Nephi, which is near the end of the book. I decided to complete the book before starting over again. I'm sure I can complete it again before the end of the year...or at least make it back to 3rd Nephi. Either way, I feel like I will have successfully completed the challenge.

I have made a habit of continuously reading the Book of Mormon anyway. Once I finish it, I simply start reading it again. I don't know how many times I have read it. I guess I should have kept track. But really, that's not the important thing. The important thing is that I daily read from its pages. I absolutely LOVE the Book of Mormon. It is my all-time favorite book. One can't read it enough. I learn new things each time I read it and it keeps my testimony strong. My faith in Jesus Christ is strengthened as I read the book. It truly is another testament of Jesus Christ.
