Our 27 year old pool was badly in need of a makeover. The coping (bricks) around the pool was breaking apart and some pieces ended up in the pool. Alan tried to use a clear gutter silicone caulk to prevent further deterioration, but it really didn't look very good. Therefore, we bit the bullet and had our coping and tile replaced.
Starting to drain the pool so the work can begin!
This shows the original tile and coping up close.
Demolition day. This took a couple of days to complete.
Demolition is complete and it's now prepared so the coping can be laid.
Coping is laid. What a difference!
Tile is placed, the pool is acid washed, now the job is complete.
All that's needed now is to fill it back up.
It took about 13 hours to fill it up. Alan ended up having to get up at 3:30 a.m. to turn the water off and add the needed chemicals. What a trooper he was!
Side by side picture of old vs. new tile.
The finished project. I think it looks fantastic!
We have a new pool cover on order, but it will be a couple of weeks before it can be installed. That will be the icing on the cake.
As promised, it only took about a week to complete this project. It took quite a while to find someone who could do this for us, but we finally found Andy Martinez and his dad. They did a great job!
