Spring has sprung, and it seems that the world is coming alive once again after a dormant four months of winter weather. I love Spring. It is my favorite season of the year. Our garden has been planted and I'm looking forward to being able to eat home-grown tomatoes once again and look forward to the zucchini and strawberries we should get soon. I love that we have fruit budding on our fruit trees, giving us promise for a good fruit supply this summer.
Alan has put a lot of effort into making our yard a beautiful place where we can relax and find peace in knowing that God has granted us this portion of His earth to bless our lives. I love our yard. Granted, it's not the perfect yard, but it is perfect for us and our needs. It has become a very nice place to gather with family.
This is Memorial Day weekend and we are making the most of it. Last night, Alan's brothers and their wives all gathered here for a barbeque. In tune with it being Memorial Day weekend, we gathered in the living room to learn more about the lives of Alan's parents - Keith & Pearl. We concentrated on the years of their late teens and early twenties when a lot happened like Pearl's mission to California, military service for Keith during WWII, marriage, mission to Argentina, and births of some of their children, etc.
Steven and Susan, who have recently returned from a trip to The Holy Land, shared some of their pictures and experiences with us. Going to The Holy Land is a pipe dream of mine. I will probably not get there during my lifetime because it is getting more and more difficult to travel as I age, but it's nice to be able to vicariously be there through Steven & Susan.
We then barbequed some burgers and ate dinner under our backyard pavilion.
