Most Memorable Mother's Day - But not necessarily in a good way!

For Mother's Day this year, I luckily found myself surrounded by family.  Normally, Mother's Day is spent without any of my children around, but such was not the case this year.  We had traveled to Memphis to spend a week vacationing with Kyle, Emily, and Milo in Tennessee.  Ryan also flew out. It was nice to have him join us.  My plan was to celebrate Mother's Day by attending Church, followed by a nice home cooked Mother's Day meal and fun with family.

On Saturday evening, we all went out to dinner at "Memphis Barbecue" - an award winning restaurant.  All was well, or so I thought.  We enjoyed the food.  Alan and I shared a meal of a full rack of baby back ribs.  Sharing was a good idea because the meal was huge.

My first sign of trouble came upon waking on Sunday morning.  My tummy hurt a little, which is not unusual for me, so I took one of my antacid chews.  This did not help.  As the morning progressed, I felt sicker and sicker.  I could not attend church with the others and spent most of the morning either sitting on or leaning over the toilet bowl.  I felt miserable.  At one point I had to choose whether to sit or lean over the toilet, needing to do both at the same time.  I hated being put into that position.  I chose to sit and immediately had to grab the garbage can to relieve myself of all stomach contents.  [Side note: This was my first time to throw up in roughly 15 years.]  Shortly after that, everyone arrived home from Church.  It was then that Alan informed me that he felt like he was getting sick too.  He had no appetite, but he never threw up.  Lucky guy!!!  Neither of us could eat the nice roast beef meal that Emily had prepared.  I felt bad about her going to all the trouble to cook the meal and then we couldn't even enjoy it.  Alan felt a little better later that night except for a low-grade fever, but my appetite didn't return for another two days.

On the bright side, my family still made Mother's Day special for me.  Alan, Ryan, Kyle, Emily, and Milo gave me this giant card.  It is the biggest card I have ever received.

I was also able to Skype with Cheryl and Jared and received a phone call from Eric.  As it turns out, Mother's Day fell on Jared's birthday so we were able to sing happy birthday to him as well.

All in all, even though I was feeling horrible, I was able to have a memorable Mother's Day and felt loved by my family.
