A New Decade Begins

Happy New Year, and Happy New Decade!

We were blessed to have Jane and Ken here with us to help welcome the new year.

On New Years Eve, we had dinner, played games, and ate too many goodies before retiring to our beds around 11:00 P.M. We didn't quite make it to midnight, but we older people need our sleep, right?

On New Years Day, we decided to go to a movie. We saw "Midway". A war movie that takes place in the Pacific after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

War movies always leave me feeling empty. There are really no winners in war because too many lives are lost and the cost of conducting wars is astronomical. In my opinion, war is just stupid! Why can't countries live in peace with each other? Oh that we had a world where its leaders respected each other and were not power hungry.

As the world gets more wicked and hearts turn away from Christ, we are seeing an increase in wars and rumors of wars...as foreseen and warned of by prophets in the scriptures. My job is to try to prepare myself spiritually to withstand that day when death and destruction will occur prior to the second coming of Christ to the earth where He will personally reign and peace will abound once again. I'm not looking forward to all of the plagues, tempests, earthquakes, wars, etc. that will surely come, but am certainly looking forward to living in a peaceful world during the millennium if I am allowed to remain here until that time. What a glorious day that will be!
