As we continue our self-isolation because of coronavirus, I continue to enjoy life by eating my favorite chocolate candy - miniature Dove dark chocolates as indicated in my post on February 15th.
Interestingly, my candy wrapper quote yesterday was this:
I had to laugh when I read it because almost nobody is booking flights right now. We are on lock-down here in California, and many other states are on lock-down as well. You would, seriously, being putting your life in danger if you booked a flight. Going into airports and sitting on airplanes could make you very vulnerable to picking up the coronavirus. Countries are closed down to virtually all International flights to prevent the spread of the virus. I will definitely not be booking a flight any time soon.
This one is better for what's going on today:
I have seen a lot of kindness thrown around since the beginning of this pandemic, which is very good to see. Even though we are, basically, stuck in our homes, people are reaching out to others in ways not seen before. I will share a couple of those stories here.
One hairdresser has made hair color available to her clients so they can color their own hair roots until the salon can open up again. She puts the personalized color on her front porch for the client to pick up at her convenience and still practice social distancing. Initially, it sounded like a trivial thing. But now that I see all the grey at my roots, with another month before I can see my hairdresser, I think that it's a great idea.
I heard about a little 12 year old girl who was struggling with her math assignment during the lock-down so she e-mailed her teacher for help. He came over, brought his whiteboard, and taught her through the window of her front door. Now that is going the second mile!
Neighbors are reaching out to neighbors, friends are reaching out to friends, and strangers are even reaching out to other strangers. There is a real goodness in people, and I admire that, but sometimes it takes a crisis to really see the best in people.
